How eating Toads is good for your health, fitness and well being!

“Swallow a toad in the morning if you want to encounter nothing more disgusting the rest of the day.”

French writer Nicolas Chamfort (1741-1794)
This quote is often changed to “eating a frog” and wrongly attributed to the great American writer Mark Twain (mainly by americans)
Do you ever lie there on a monday morning, having made plans that your going to get up and go for a run? This is going to be the day you start your exercise program? Or if you are on a program this is the day you are going to start with a particularly tough workout you’ve been avoiding…. such as intervals?
On Sunday night, your plan was clear, you were so determined, it was going to be easy, just get up, just do it! But now the doona is nice and warm, outside is so cold, you HATE doing cardio intervals, it’s all such hard work, you don’t have the energy… you shouldn’t have had that 2nd glass of red…

You’ve just created a toad . An ugly wart covered, slimy, toad. The best way to get rid of a toad is to eat it….. That’s right, swallow the toad before it grows and believe me it will grow. The longer you leave the toad it will sit there staring at you all day, growing, getting bigger and bigger and it’s just going to get uglier and uglier.
All tasks that you don’t want to do, that you are likely to procrastinate about have the potential of turning into toads.
So how do you deal with toads…. eat them.
Make a list, what are all the things you don’t want to do the next day and make sure you approach them first… eat your toads so they don’t grow during the day… because as toads grow they can affect your energy, your resilience and your self esteem.
Eat your toads early as the thought of eating them gets more and more distasteful the longer you put them off. It applies to that workout but to other things in life such as making a certain phone call, sorting out your accounts, dealing with an issue at work. If you have more than one toad do make sure that you eat the ugliest and biggest one first.
What people don’t realise about toads is that when eaten they strengthen you, they increase your resolve, your prove, your efficiency, your self esteem…. how good do you feel when you been to the gym… you are ready to go again, you are ready to eat something healthy, you feel proud of yourself, stronger in soul as well as body.

Cheers and happy eating, Joe
If you’d like to get serious about eating your toads have a look at Brian Tracy, the great American Motivational and personal development guru (also guilty of attributing aforementioned quote to fellow american Mark Twain) has written an awesome book “Eat That Frog!: 21 Great Ways to Stop Procrastinating and Get More Done in Less Time” and some great Audio on how to eat toads.

ps Susie King and Rachel Hart  you are responsible for this article… happy toad eating! Rachel, how was the toad?
