Client Focus: Tereza Berkemeier

This months Client Focus has an extra story to it, I’ve taken the liberty of adding a couple of Tez’s diary extracts.
Who are you?
Tereza Berkemeier
What do you do for a crust? Financial Services Marketing primarily Consumer Products.
What is your sport? I’m a Northern Beaches girls so typically mostly netball, basketball and touch football now I’m an elite armchair athlete.
At what level do you do your sport, what accolades have you received?
Best is yet to come – that’s why I’m at Joe’s Garage working towards the physical goal of a lifetime.
How long have you been training with Joe and or Joe’s Garage?
Since October 2012 when my father told me I needed to do something about my weight and my posture (he noticed I was getting a hunchback) – he was right.
What is your favourite workout and why? Conditioning. I love the combination of strength tasks and cardio exercise especially the timed workouts like Barbara and Angie, they are challenging and it makes me push right out of my limits.
If you could live anywhere where would it be? To be honest though I grew up at Freshwater, Sydney. I’m a concrete jungle girl as I love the beat of a city. I know sounds crazy but I would like a chance to live in Brooklyn Heights, NYC.
What are you reading? The Slap by Christos Tsiolkas
What do you watch? 3 Greedy Italians and The Good Wife. Don’t mind Masterchef as long as the contestants don’t cry all the time ruins the show.
What are you listening to? Six60, Gin Wigmore, Ruby Turner and Phats & Small
What’s your vice? Wine (Rockford Press or Mt Pleasant Lovedale in case anyone wants a couple of cheeky drinks), cheese and handbags in that order.
If you could have dinner with anybody who would it be? I wouldn’t mind having dinner with Barack Obama and picking his brain then I’d ask him to do something goofy like sing ‘I’m so in love with you’ to Michelle or dance with me to Marky Mark’s Good Vibrations.
Tell us a secret? Colonel Sanders was lying there is no herbs and spices the skin is just fried with addictive ingredients that are no good for you.
What have been the benefits of training at Joe’s Garage? Changed my whole perception of health and fitness and also changed my body shape.
What is the key to happiness? Core Strength in all aspects mind, body, soul, spirit – finding what your core is and centering your whole life around it.
What is your next goal? To reach my goal weight. To deadlift and power clean like a champion ha ha actually just to get my posture right in weightlifting would be a good start.
And Now The story of Tereza Berkemeier….
I just wanted to share this fantastic transformation to show some of you girls that it is not just about losing kilo’s
The picture above was taken ONLY 6 weeks apart.
So how did Teresa do it? A proper structured exercise program and eating real wholesome food and NO rubbish.
I’ve taken the liberty of posting two excerpts from her diary
Mon 8 October 2012:
I am 39, 71 kilos and just had my second baby who is 6 months old and juggle him with an active 2 year old.  I have no strength in any form including upper or lower body strength and never ever had core strength.  My body is badly battered from labour and my diet was strictly caffeine, wheat and diary because my main meals are toast and cereal for convenience and coffee for sleep deprivation. I was probably more suited to a Curves program but wanted to try Joe’s through a friend’s recommendation.  Combining Joe’s 28 day natural eating plan and attempting all classes with dread, I began to gain confidence and enjoyed the challenges of each session.
27th November 2012:
I am now 69 kilos and my body shape is changing and appears to be taking shape instead of a being a blob.  Each class is varied and I’m doing things I never thought possible particularly running and weight training.   I want to bring my best for the coaches Joe and Simon because their approach to you as a valued person not just a client and you can tell a lot of thought and time has gone into preparing the program.
The Garage crew particularly the experienced and fitter members are unbelievably encouraging it makes for a really great culture to be a part of that I think you would never find at any gym.  My husband and children are loving the happy and energetic wife and mum,  my family and friends are shocked at the physical changes in me.
Joe’s Garage has now become a part of my lifestyle and not just somewhere I go to exercise.
Note from Joe: Tez is great to have around the gym, she was really unsure of herself when she first joined but the most important thing is that she has so much heart. I’ve seen her crying when she was so happy that she managed to do something in the gym, she never thought she would be able to do! The other important thing is she is conscientious : she doesnt change our advice to suite her own ideas or adapt them around things she has heard or read. She listened to our advice and followed it 100% … and it worked!
