Campfire Questions With Andrea

Who are you? Andrea Andrews
What do you do for a crust? Dietician, Manly Hospital
How old are you? 31
What are you passionate about?  Enjoying life, family, friends and adventure. I love the simple things in life, like having time to exercise, being outdoors and spending time with my husband Gareth (this is rare)
Why Joe’s Basecamp?  I love the carefree environment at Joe’s where we all train hard and encourage each other to reach our goals. I have always been fit, an avid
runner and hockey player at school and uni. I had never pushed myself and since joining JBC this has all changed, I have a new perspective on exercise and how training at a gym can be fun and immensely challenging on a daily basis.
How long have you been training with Joe?  I recently received a 3 year anniversary email and time can tell. Since training with Joe I have achieved tremendous milestones, changed my outlook on lifting weights and I have learnt    to enjoy all of the gruelling conditioning sessions.
What is your favourite workout and why?
I love the Saturday morning group sessions, recently we have had some cracking military style sessions that just leave you broken, a great way to start off the weekend.
If you could live anywhere where would it be?
This is a tricky one, Gareth and I absolutely adore Fairlight Bay but we still have so much to explore before we settle down. Currently I would love to live in a van parked somewhere in Patagonia.
What are you reading?
I have recently finished The Century Trilogy by Ken Follett, so for a lighter read I have started The girl who saved the king of Sweden by Jonas Jonasson, so far so good.
What do you watch?
I’m an avid fan of all the girly series (especially when Gareth is away). I recently watched Flesh and Bone a series about ballerinas. I highly recommend a movie we watched recently 180 degrees South, I think everyone at the gym would love this one.
What are you listening to?
Nothing in particular, I like listening to Ed Sheeran radio.
What’s your vice?
I would have to say travelling.
If you could have dinner with anybody who would it be?
Gareth and I have family and friends scattered around the world. If I could have dinner with anybody, I would like it to be just like our wedding day where we had everyone we love in the same room joining us for a meal.
Tell us a secret?
Joe will be installing air conditioning in the gym!!
What have been the benefits of training at Joe’s Basecamp?
The list is too long… first of all I have made the most amazing friends; I truly value everyone I have met at JBC. I absolutely adore Joe and all of his crazy ideas and I have become more confident in myself and set out to achieve huge milestones. I would never have thought I could train and complete a 250km ultra marathon.
What is the key to happiness?
Have a bucket list, surround yourself with exciting people and anything is possible, it may take time but it will eventually happen.
What is your next goal?
We are off to Patagonia on Saturday, a cheeky two week trip to visit my family in Chile and then head to the South of Argentina/Chile to do some hiking in Torres Del Paine Patagonia.

This year Andrea completed her first ever multi stage Ultrathon a 250km event in Equador, part of the race the planet series. You can find the full story of her amazing adventure  here.
