Island Peak Trip Notes

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAMany of you know about our trip to climb island peak (6187m), Nepal next march.
I’m sure alot of you out there are very goal focused and prefer to have a goal to train for, rather than training just to lose a few kilo’s. I’ve always found it better to set a great and challenging goal and then the rest just happens.
…and this is a challenging goal.

If you consider yourself fit and are looking for something very different to do or if you feel that you can get fit by March and this is the boost you need…. come and play!
I’ve attached the complete details, trip notes and itinerary. Thought I’d send it out to you all so you can have a read and see what an exciting trip we have planned. We are very very excited! I can’t wait to get back into the mountains again

Couple of things
We have had to add on $200 onto the price, this is because of a combination of the various Nepali tourism related associations having had their AGMs over the last few weeks, which has led to:
* TAAN – the trekking agents association have increased all Nepali staff wages
* Flight – costs have also gone up ..and are expected to increase again before our arrival
* Lukla porters – unions have entered the frame and they have also increased Lukla porter rates
Unfortunately being a boutique service, I don’t have the ability to absorb these costs. (this is included in the quoted price on our new itinerary)
I’ve also decided to make departure date a little earlier than the April season , to beat global warming (monsoon started early last year, implications of an early monsoon are not as good visibility for looking at mountains , and flights getting grounded). This way it will be a bit crisper but we have a lot better chance of clear crisp days and amazing views.
Just to let you know I have also secured an expedition doctor for this trip, one of our own from the Garage: James McEwan, although we don’t always take one, I do on the majority of my trips …  it’s always comforting to have a well kitted out expedition Doctor in the middle of nowhere.
We are taking deposits from now, BE QUICK THERE ARE ONLY 8 out of the 12 SPACES for this bucket list trip of a lifetime still available and we haven’t really put it out there yet. (contact us directly for booking details)
Cheers Joe and the team
