Henry, Jarrod & Dave are trekking the Kokoda Trail!

Three Gidget Foundation supporters – David Blacker, Henry Talbot and Jarrod Bowditch – have decided to take on the Kokoda trail to raise funds for the Foundation.
Many of you will have shed some Sweat+Tears with Henry and Jarrod over the past few months.
From April 22nd this year, the men will trek 110 kilometres in rain over ten days in an effort to raise their target of $50,000. They will do all of this with one pair of jocks for the trip, two showers along the way and some trail mix and tinned food to keep them going.
All funds raised from the Kokoda trek will be used to improve services for women suffering from perinatal anxiety and depression in NSW
The team have been training hard for nine months, dropping weight and building stamina to get fit for the adventure.
This event recognises that men also suffer from perinatal anxiety and depression – it affects ten percent of fathers directly and many more indirectly through watching their wives and partners suffer from the illness.
At least 20 percent of mothers experience perinatal anxiety and depression but the illness is treatable with the right professional help. Funds raised will be used to coordinate additional Gidget midwives workshops and  to establish an online resource centre to more quickly link up perinatal anxiety and depression patients with doctors and other health services.

The Gidget Foundation mission is to promote awareness of Perinatal Anxiety and Depression amongst women and their families, their health providers and the wider community to ensure that women in need receive timely, appropriate and supportive care.
